Ernesto Rodriguez Bio

Ernesto Rodriguez has been a dedicated member of the DMV community since 1985, faithfully serving others through his roles as a boxer, husband, father, retired police officer, mentor, and minister. Today, he is developing a boxing, athletic, and faith-based ministry designed to combine his passion for faith, family, and community while spreading the Word of God and empowering the next generation.

Mr. Rodriguez began his boxing journey in 1989 and quickly established himself as a standout amateur athlete, winning multiple Golden Gloves Championships along with two national tournament titles. In 1997, he transitioned into professional boxing, where he remained undefeated throughout his career. His accomplishments and contributions to the sport earned him induction into the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003.

After retiring from professional boxing in 2001, Mr. Rodriguez devoted himself to training and mentoring young athletes. In 2017, he made history as the first trainer to develop a world champion from Hillcrest Boys & Girls Club with the rise of Jarrett Hurd. Under Mr. Rodriguez’s guidance, Hurd went on to win multiple championship belts and became a Unified World Champion.

Continuing his legacy in the sport, Mr. Rodriguez developed his second world champion in 2025, Tiara Brown, who captured the WBC Women’s Boxing Championship and further solidified his reputation as an elite trainer and mentor in the sport. In addition, he has trained and mentored numerous USA Boxing National Amateur Champions through his athletic program, helping many student-athletes achieve academic success, graduate from high school, and pursue higher levels of opportunity.

Today, Mr. Rodriguez continues to volunteer his time as a boxing trainer, mentor, and father figure at the Hillcrest Boys & Girls Club, where he remains committed to guiding youth and young adults both inside and outside the ring. His dedication to mentorship reflects his lifelong mission to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through discipline, faith, and positive leadership.

Beyond athletics, Mr. Rodriguez has remained deeply committed to his family and faith. He and his wife have been married since 1997 and together have raised four children. He also honorably served his community for over 20 years as a law enforcement officer, dedicating his life to protecting and uplifting others.

Mr. Rodriguez has been a faithful member of Assembly of the Saints Church, Inc. since 1994. In 2019, he joined the ministry team and continues today as a minister of the Gospel, encouraging others through biblical teaching, community outreach, and spiritual mentorship.

Through Changing Faces Faith Christian Center, Inc. (CFFCC), Mr. Rodriguez welcomes individuals and families from all walks of life to grow together in faith, unity, and purpose. His vision is to create a ministry that nurtures spiritual growth while strengthening families and communities through faith-based outreach, mentorship, and service.
