Ernesto Rodriguez Bio

Ernesto Rodriguez has been a resident of DMV since 1985 where he served his community through his time as boxer, father, police officer, and minister. He is working on developing an online boxing/athletic/faith-based ministry which will provide him with a platform to combine his faith, family, and community values into a platform to spread the word of God.

Rodriguez’ started his boxing journey in 1989. As an amateur he won several Golden Gloves championships and two national tournaments. In 1997 Rodriguez progressed to become an undefeated professional fighter. In 2003 he was inducted into the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame and in 2001 he retired from professional boxing and became a trainer. In 2017 he made history as the first trainer to develop Hillcrests’ first world champion Jarrett Hurd.

Hurd later won two additional belts and became Unified World Champion under Rodriguez’ instruction. Today, Rodriguez is a volunteer boxing trainer at the Hillcrest Boys & Girls Club where he mentors youth and young adults.
In addition to his time boxing, Rodriguez served his family, community, and faith. He and his wife have been married since 1997 and together have raised 4 children. He supported his family and community through 20 years as a law enforcement officer. His strong faith in God has helped Rodriguez along his journey. He has been a member of the Assembly of the Saints Church Inc. since 1994. In 2019 he joined their ministry team and today he continues to minister the word of God.

Since relocating to the DMV area in 1985, Mr. Rodriguez has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to service, excelling in diverse roles as a boxer, father, now retired police officer, and minister. Mr. Rodriguez multifaceted experience uniquely positions him to develop the proposed online ministry, effectively integrating your faith, family, and community values to share your message.

His distinguished boxing career began in 1989. As an amateur competitor, he achieved significant success, culminating in multiple Golden Gloves championships and two national tournament victories. Transitioning to the professional ranks in 1997, he maintained an undefeated record. His accomplishments led to his induction into the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003. Following his retirement from professional boxing in 2001, he transitioned to a successful career as a boxing trainer, achieving a noteworthy milestone in 2017 as the first trainer to cultivate a world champion, Jarrett Hurd, at Hillcrest. Under your tutelage, Mr. Hurd went on to secure two additional championship belts, becoming a Unified World Champion. In 2025 Mr. Rodriguez developed his second World Champion in Tiara Brown who currently holds the WBC Featherweight Championship of the world. In addition Mr. Rodriguez has developed several USA Boxing National Amateur Champions through his athletic program with high school honors and top level graduates.

Currently, he generously volunteer his time and expertise as a boxing trainer, mentor and father figure at the Hillcrest Boys & Girls Club, where he provides invaluable mentorship to young people. His dedication to fostering the next generation highlights his deep commitment to community development. This commitment and his impressive background strongly support the viability and impact of a planned future online ministry.
